So, it's been flooding your twitter timelines for the last few hours. Apple's just announced a bunch of things, including refreshes for the MacBook Air/Pro, info on OSX mountain lion and the grand unveiling of IOS6.
So, what are people's initial reactions to everything that's been announced? The new Macs look cool but I'll wait for the prices to come down first. I'm liking some of the new stuff in IOS6 and can't wait to try that out. I appreciate it's a little soon, but I'd be especially interested to hear from blind developers using VoiceOver who have downloaded and installed IOS6 Beta1 on there devices as it's available today to all the lucky sods with an Apple Dev account.
Ok, enough from me: Let the discussion begin!
My two favorite new things: Siri will have better sports scores now and maps have been given a total makeover! We'll have to see how good or sucky the latter is, but I've been hearing that Siri's sports features are pretty awesome. Passbook is also going to be one awesome little tool. I can't wait to try it out.
From what I've heard, Siri doesn't work well with Voice Over. Will that be corrected with IOS 6?
In my opinion, you've heard most incorrectly regarding Siri and voiceover. I use her for everything and haven't run into any major obstacles. any issue I may have had was minor at best and likely not even worth mentioning or even remembering, since I can't recall off the top of my head any issues I've had using siri!
The only thing that I disliked regarding siri is that she was lacking with regards to things she can do. That has nothing to do with voiceover, and seems to be addressed in the next IOS update. See my above post for only small examples of this.
Hmm, that's good to know.
The big thing is that siri will be able to open apps. My client's will love that.
The big thing for me for IOS6 must be and will be the siri and maps. although, we are not sure how accessible it will be for VI users, but if it is all voice control, i asume it should be pretty good. That will make some of the blind people orientated GPS manifacture to think of what they charge and what they produce.
Macbook Pro will be one of the biggy too. From how Apple pricing their stuff lately, i won't be surprise if it is slightly cheeper than the current MBP
That seems the big one to me. You'll be able to post to Twitter and Facebook, open and check mail, etc right from Siri.
The Maps app will be fully integrated with VoiceOver, according to Apple's web site. Siri is going to be really cool in iOS 6 as well. I like how the thinned out the new MacBook Pro, but I need to wait until the price comes down to get it.
That Mac pro is costing and lots of the features won't do use any good, but its nice.
On Siri I'm excited that car manufactors are going to include a button on the sterring wheel to active it. You say "play Patty Lagel" "Call Susie" "text Janet I'll not see her tonight" but you don't say because you texted Susie for a date. hahaha.
Just bad stuff. Come on wid it!
I'm really stoked about the potential of siri to be integrated with the maps program.
Also, if the turn by turn voice guidence is good, you'll be able to integrate it into your contacts. No separate contacts for navigon anymore.
NICE
Siri can already work your contacts if that is what you mean?
